The WannabeHippie and Family Are Totally Unprepared
Meet the Gingery Family: Mark and Elaine, parents of two beautiful girls, Lily and Anya, who dote on the world’s most mellow Labrador Retriever, Maya.
Elaine is a popular mommy blogger, wannabehippie, who writes about living the good life in San Diego, and trying to raise her children in a safe and healthy environment. The Gingery’s live on a two acre mini-farm in the city of San Diego, 15 minutes from downtown, complete with chickens.
Trained emergency responder Susan Jekarl gives the Gingery house the once over with the Earthquake Safety Checklist and figures out just how unprepared the Gingery family is for an earthquake.
In order to motivate them to get prepared, she shakes them up a bit in the Big Shaker. While they only shake for 10 seconds, the family is frightened by the stuff falling and the shaking, and motivated to secure their belongings at home.
Back at home, Susan and Mark go looking for the gas shut off valve. He knows where it is, that’s good! But he doesn’t have a wrench nearby. She gives them the quick tip to attach a gas shut off wrench to the valve itself, because they can’t expect to be able to go digging through their toolshed after an earthquake.
In the next episode, the family learns what to do during an earthquake.
