Behind The Scenes: Geena The Latina Tells Us About Her Darling Dogs

When we visited Geena to get her prepared for earthquakes, we also met her darling dogs, Chunky and Teddy. It turns out they are one of her favorite things to talk about.
My oldest dog is Chunky. He is a three year old Shih-Tzu. My girlfriend Denise called me and said she had a dog who needed a home named “Chunky.” Without even really thinking about it, I said yes.
When I went to pick him up and was given his papers I noticed his name was Chucky NOT Chunky! I thought my friend had said Chunky over the phone! However, when I looked at him he looked like a Chunky to me so I just kept the name (I had it in my head all week so to me that was his name already).

I had never raised a dog on my own and didn’t know what I was getting myself into. I found out later why they named him “Chucky”. Yeah, he was a bit crazy at first. He quickly calmed down though and became my best friend.
He is a very interesting dog. When my friends meet him they say he’s almost like a person. He has definitely acquired a lot of my traits. He is pretty relaxed, calm, and takes a while to get to know people. But once he does he loves them and is very loyal to them.
He loves to eat!! Hence his name Chunky and he is afraid of cameras! He ABSOLUTELY HATES pictures! As soon as he sees a camera or camera phone come out he hides and doesn’t come back until that camera is long gone. What a weirdo!
My other dog’s name is Teddy Phelps. He is a two year old malti-poo who acts like a 6 month old pup! He is very playful and loooovvees to cuddle. You can be lying on a huge king size bed with only him and somehow he will find himself a comfy spot right up against your body.
I am quite busy with work so sometimes I would feel bad leaving Chunky alone. That’s when I started looking into getting Chunky a friend. From the second I saw Teddy I knew he was the one. He was sooooooo little and cuddly.
The day I saw him I took him home and he’s been part of the family ever since. He’s quite opposite than Chunky. He’s far from calm. He likes to play, and he runs REALLY FAST. Oh and he jumps higher than I’ve ever seen any dog jump. I think he was an athlete in a different life. He thinks he’s a cat sometimes because he likes to prop himself up on the edge of the couch and other high furniture just how cats do.
You’re probably wondering where the Phelps came from. When he was little he was so tiny he would jump into his water bowl and swim in it. He loved the water! Now that he’s bigger he still tries to swim in his water bowl however he just is able to pretty much paddle the water OUTSIDE of the bowl onto the floor making a mess! I now know he does it when he gets hot since he’s a black dog. I just thought he wanted to be Michael Phelps.
I love my dogs! I am so happy Totally Unprepared showed me everything I need to do to make sure little Chunky and Teddy survive an earthquake. With their little earthquake kits they’ll recover from the next big one just fine.
awww i love these dogs.. great photos
