Show Co-Host Susan Jekarl

When was the Last time you checked your smoke detectors?

Host Susan Jekarl

Susan is not an earthquake safety professional, but you would never know that watching her help Californians get themselves prepared for an earthquake.

Her interest in earthquake preparedness started with a free CERT course at her local fire department and has continued with Red Cross training and drills through the Los Angeles Fire Dept Disaster Preparedness Unit as well as the Los Angeles Sheriffs Dept. She’s a member of California’s elite Volunteer Disaster Corps, the first of its kind in the United States.

She owns many, many flashlights and can’t say no to reflective material.

Susan loves mixed martial arts, tribal fusion belly dancing and is an outrageously enthusiastic member of her local Kiwanis Club. Her favorite hobbies are painting portraits and making sock monkeys. She has no known allergies and loves Belgian beers.

Oh, and she wants to know when was the last time you checked your smoke detector?
