If after an earthquake water starts shooting out of broken pipes in your home, take stock of the situation, and then turn of the water at the main for your house or apartment.

Since you already have an emergency water supply in your home earthquake kit, you do not need to worry about cutting off the water supply for a few days. Securing the water supply to your home will prevent water damage after an earthquake.

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Treasure hunt! Go looking for your water valve.
2. First person to find the valve gets to close it, using several full clockwise rotations.
3. Break into your emergency supply of water, and don’t forget you can use the water in your water heater and toilet tanks.
